Tout est parfait le seule commentaire que peut faire est la variété du menu j'aimerais pouvoir avoir un acces à un bon steak avec legumes à L'orée du bois pas au Sterling

For the last 30+ years, we have chosen L'Oree du bois to celebrate our most special occasions. It has always been exceptional in every way: ambiance, attentive & polished service, an interesting menu & food prepared with obvious pride, care & attention. We have been proud to take out of town friends & business associates there as one of the finest overall dining experiences in the national capital area.
Last night, we were celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary with our daughter & quite frankly I was disappointed. I found the potage & all the sauces rather too sweet (I had the escargots & the confit de canard), my husband's filet mignon was just lukewarm. We were seated at a table in the doorway of several couloirs which was noisy & « passant » & as there were three of us, one of the chairs had been taken away, along with the place settings, & it all felt odd & uncomfortable, as if thrown together at the last minute without much thought whereas I had reserved at least two weeks in advance.
Overall, everything was « fine » but not soignée, definitely not the level of exceptional we have come to expect over the years, &, for the price, that was quite disappointing. I'm very sorry to have to say that.

Went in on a whim & enjoyed a perfect end to our day. We couldn't have asked for more with our meal & service! A wonderful way to end the day on such a high note!

C'est presqu'une note parfaite. Il avait un peu trop d'attente pour le service de temps en temps & les plats à ma mère étaient tiède/froid. Sinon, c'était parfait !

Un bémol cependant concernant l'indication des prix sur le menu & les prix de certains mets un peu exorbitants.
Faudrait songer à indiquer plus clairement les prix surtout pour les entrées à la carte; on écrit en haut du menu " de 9$à 19$ sans identifier.le coût de chaque entrée. C'est une boîte à surprises quand arrive la facture..
Sur le menu de la table d'hôte, on mentionne 80$ mais il y a de l'extra sur certains plats comme le pavé de boeuf à 60$ plus 20$. Ça fait cher pas mal...( on va chez vous au moins une fois par année depuis 20 ans)
L'an dernier je me rappelle la table d'hôte à 58$...
Quand j'ai demandé à la serveuse ( par ailleurs fort efficace & gentille) des explications sur la table d'hôte à 80$, elle m'a dit qu'elle ne pouvait s'appliquer à moi vu que je n'avais pas pris de dessert....un peu ridicule.
Ce fut très bien quand même.

Excellent accueil, le foie gras était excellent. La serveuse était très gentille & serviable mais nous étions interrompu trop souvent a notre table. Nous reviendrons sans aucun doute. Merci!

From the moment you've arrived you know it's going to be special. The food was amazing , the appetizers we had were delicious the escargot, & the puff pastry with leaks & bacon & mushroom was the star of the appetizers , the cream of broccoli soup was fantastic, the duck confetti presented beautifully. All the service was great

As always, locations & atmosphere & food & service are the reasons that attract people back to L'Oree du Bois.

What a wonderful evening! Staff was so cordial, friendly, engaging. Really made us feel at home. The food (Salmon with leeks) was delicious- every mouthful was golden! Dessert: gorgeous!
