We have been using SPUD for over a decade & while there have been ups & downs over the years, I sincerely feel that they deserve the 5-star rating. Post-pandemic has seen its challenges with supply but SPUD has adapted & improved. I appreciate their service & highly recommend membership.Voir plus

I used to love SPUD as a delivery option for produce because I could trust that if I was sent a bad batch of berries, or a very small squash when I paid for a medium sized one, or if there was damage I could easily get a refund. I took care with this & only did it when necessary & it was the only reason I ordered produce from SPUD. Now, they have implemented a new policy that requires you to take pictures with your refund request so that they can use that to keep their standards better. This just requires the customer to work harder when a picker who packs the bin doesn't take the time to check for quality. So, unfortunately I cannot recommend them any longer for produce delivery. Not when inflation is already making things hard for everyone. It is safer to go to the store to quality check for yourself, otherwise now with this new policy you could be throwing a lot of money away when they decide to decline your refund request because the picture you sent isn't good enough. When I voiced my concerns I was just told'too bad, you want us to close your account?' It's unfortunate. Spud used to have such great customer service. This is not good customer service. I'll spend my money elsewhere now. Picture is of what is supposed to be a butternut squash, medium size. I will send the picture in, but may or may not be refunded. This is not good. Bye Bye Spud.Voir plus

I'm sorry to have to update my review of Spud. They once had the best quality produce, but lately it has gone downhill. My 5-lb bags of carrots have looked old & dry. The apples aren't as crisp as they should be. The last straw is my recent order with grapes. My daughter refused to eat them because they smelled strongly of mold. All the grapes were wet & moldy smelling, & there were small bits of mold visible. When I requested a refund, I was told that the mold was dirt & my refund refused. Note that there was also white fuzz in the photo. To me, this is the end of a once great company, now questioning the authenticity of a complaint of a 10+ year loyal customer. It's a sad day.Voir plus

I have been a member since 2021 & have placed 38 orders with SPUD in that time. I’ve noticed that the quality of fresh produce & customer service have declined. When I first started placing orders & there were problems, customer service was efficient, friendly & helpful. This doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

I recently pre-ordered a fresh free-range turkey for Thanksgiving 3 weeks in advance. The day before the order, I was sent an email saying there were no turkeys in stock😮. The next day, I was sent another email saying a turkey would be delivered, but it wouldn’t be free range & it would cost the same amount. I didn’t care because I was glad I’d have a turkey to cook. At 11:30am I was sent a message saying the turkey had been delivered, & was a little worried since I was at work (but I was confident because according to the Spud site, groceries are packed with ice & cool bags to keep products at a food safe temperature for 8 hours). When I got home at 4pm, I picked up my turkey to put in the fridge & it started leaking warm bloody turkey juice out of the corner of the cooler bag. All the ice packs were melted & the turkey did not feel cool to the touch. I immediately phoned customer service & was told they would look into & get back to me the next day. There was no response, so I phoned in & they indicated that there was a no refund policy, but they would contact someone in charge. I then received an email saying it was my fault for leaving the turkey out all day. I tried phoning someone again & was told that they would elevate the case to a supervisor & be contacted. I have been waiting a week & have not heard back. Needless to say, this negatively impacted my Thanksgiving plans.

While this is a pretty major example of Spud’s declining quality & customer service, I have noticed other little things since I first started ordering. Perhaps they have become too big & are no longer the caring & local company they were.

If you are relying on an order (especially for an important meal), be careful!Voir plus
